Has Your Pocket Lost It’s Jingle? by Colt Marcovi
I made a trip to the grocery store today. Enroute I pass by a couple of places that sell gasoline. I would call them service stations, but I haven’t seen one of those in years. (You know…one of those antiquities where an attendant pumps your gas, cleans your windshield, checks your oil and even the air in your tires if you want him to…and get this, for FREE! Nowdays, not only do you have to take care of all of these items yourself, you also have to pay for water or air if you need it! Sorry. One of my pet peeves.) Anyway, I make a point to look at the gasoline prices for the day as they constantly fluctuate.
I only needed a couple of items from the store on this trip so I headed to the dairy section to pick up a gallon of milk and a 30 count crate of eggs. Total cost: $8.36. Same two items three weeks ago: $5.21. That’s an increase of 62% over a three week time period. No wonder 80% of Americans are broke.
According to one souce, by age 65, 98% of people are either dead, or dead broke. Only 2% are financially independent. That can be a scary thought. Let me share a few more statistics with you.
In 2005, household debt was 108.4% of household income. For every dollar earned by the middle class family only slightly more than a quarter is left over after paying for necessities such as health care, day care, food, mortgage and educational expenses. Looking at my own costs for health coverage, I pay $654 per month to cover my family and I. This doesn’t even take into account tithing or gifts to charity, which I strongly believe in. Add in auto and insurance payments plus the skyrocketing costs of gasoline…what is a family to do?
People end up turning to credit cards in an attempt to survive only to be raped by predatory lenders charging interest rates as high as 29%. If a debtor is limited to paying only the minimum payment on their credit card, it would take many many years to pay off a balance of even $1,000 if nothing else was ever charged. Since wages for the most part have remained stagnant while the cost of living continues to rise sharply, an ever increasing number of people end up in a downward spiral, unable to free themselves from the mountain of debt.
“Gee Colt, thanks for brightening up my weekend,” you say?
I do have some good news for you my friend. There is a way out of the financial vacuum that is sucking you dry. I can say that unreservedly because it has been proven time and time again.
You won’t find the answer in working longer and harder for someone else. The odds are astronomical against you picking up a few million in the lottery, so that’s likely not the solution either. To get ahead of the game in todays world, you must find a way to work for yourself. Self employment is the vehicle that will bring you financial freedom, time freedom, and a lifestyle unlike anything you have ever known. It can be done and it is a whole lot easier than you may think.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step. Take that step right now by clicking on the link below.
